another opportunity

I sat on a rock for three hours this morning

Watching the crabs get to where they’re going.

The sea breathes an universal pulse:

In and out.

In and out.

And if there was anything that was going to teach me what life was about,

It would be the way nature always provides us with what we need.

Because often the case is to train our eyes to see what is in front of us,

Instead of what we’re frantically searching for.

To learn how to live life in the simple things,

Rather than always reaching for more.

I sat until the words came out.

I sat until my soul felt free.

I sat until I could transition into the day.

And tomorrow,

another opportunity to practice what it means to be a living, breathing being.
